The extra helpful hand so you never need to hire one.
Invoice Better is a fencing quote and invoice app for Australian fencers who work solo, on iPhone and iPad. Type the fence length and height, and the fencing item prices it at your rate per square metre, plus palings at your own price per metre. Then send a GST tax invoice from the job.
It's not job management software. There's no dispatch board and no staff rosters. It just gets your quotes and invoices done, fast.
Free: up to 3 clients, 5 invoices sent a month and 3 saved price-list items. Premium from A$7.99 a month.
Work out a fence price the same way the app does: length × height × your rate per square metre, plus palings at your price per metre. Add a gate as its own fixed price. GST is 10% on top.
The rates filled in are EXAMPLE figures, not market rates. Put in your own. This calculator doesn't save or send anything.
Quote like this every day? Save it as your fencing item in the app, and each quote is two numbers: the length and the height. Get Invoice Better free on the App Store.
All prices below are EXAMPLE figures to show the maths. They are not market rates. Use your own.
| Line | Qty | Rate (ex GST) | Amount (ex GST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Colorbond fence, 12 m × 1.8 m | 21.6 m² | $85.00 per m² | $1,836.00 |
Subtotal $1,836.00 · GST 10% $183.60 · Total $2,019.60
| Line | Qty | Rate (ex GST) | Amount (ex GST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Timber paling fence, 20 m × 1.8 m | 36 m² | $70.00 per m² | $2,520.00 |
Subtotal $2,520.00 · GST 10% $252.00 · Total $2,772.00
Both jobs are over $1,000, so the tax invoice must show the customer's name or ABN. Add palings at your price per metre and any gates as their own lines, and the app adds them to the total.
Version 1.5.5 (21 October 2026) added a fencing item for quoting fences.
When the customer says yes, the quote becomes the tax invoice in one tap. Your ABN, BSB and PayID are already on it. Need a starting point for your other prices? Grab the free tradie price list template.
If you're registered for GST, the ATO says a tax invoice must show enough to work out:
For sales of $1,000 or more, it must also show the customer's name or ABN. If a customer asks for a tax invoice, you have to give them one within 28 days (unless the sale is $82.50 or less, including GST).

Customers send you work from your free public page, and they don't need the app. Requests land in your app, and you accept, follow up or decline them. Share your link on your ute, your cards or your socials.
It's optional. Turn it on with a free account. Invoicing works without one. Public pages work in Australia and New Zealand.
You can make the quote or invoice and the PDF with no signal; sending needs a connection. Invoice Better keeps your customers, prices and invoices on your phone, and you don't need an account to invoice. Send it when you're back in range. More on offline invoicing.
If your GST turnover is under $75,000 a year, you don't have to register for GST (ATO, Registering for GST). Switch GST off and Invoice Better sends a plain invoice, without "Tax invoice" or GST on it. When you register, switch it back on.
If you run a fencing crew, you probably need a job management app. ServiceM8, Tradify and Fergus are built for that. They cover things Invoice Better doesn't, like:
They're priced for businesses that use those features. Check their sites for current plans.
Invoice Better is for the fencer who does the job themselves and just wants the paperwork done before they pack up. You can still export your invoices to CSV for Xero, MYOB or your bookkeeper at BAS time. Comparing apps? See the tradie invoicing app comparison.
Prices include GST, as listed on the Australian App Store. Cancel any time in your Apple settings.
A fencing quote app lets you price a fence on your phone at the job. In Invoice Better you type the length and height, and the fencing item works out the square metres at your rate, adds palings at your price per metre, and adds the GST. When the customer says yes, the quote becomes the tax invoice in one tap.
Multiply the length by the height to get square metres, then multiply by your rate per square metre. Add palings at your price per metre of fence, and any gates as fixed prices. Add 10% GST if you're registered. For example, 12 m × 1.8 m at $85 per m² is $1,836, plus $183.60 GST, so $2,019.60.
If you're registered for GST, it needs to show it's a tax invoice, your business name and ABN, the date, what you did with the quantity and price, and the GST. For sales of $1,000 or more, it must also show the customer's name or ABN. Most fence jobs go over $1,000, so put the customer's name on every invoice.
Yes for making it. You can write the quote or invoice and make the PDF with no signal; sending needs a connection, so send it when you're back in range. Your customers, prices and invoices stay on your phone.
Turn GST off and send a plain invoice instead of a tax invoice. Don't add GST or use the words "Tax invoice" until you're registered. When you register, switch GST back on and your next invoice shows it at 10%.

No, Invoice Better is only for quotes and invoices. It has no scheduling, dispatch, staff timesheets or recurring invoices. If you run a fencing crew and need those, a job management app like ServiceM8, Tradify or Fergus is the better fit.
